EXECUTIVE OFFICER MESSAGE

2017

Greetings from North Dakota DeMolay:

Since its founding in 1919, DeMolay has served the young men across the United States and many foreign countries teaching the principles of love of parents, reverence, courtesy, comradeship, fidelity, cleanness, and patriotism.

DeMolay is a member led organization with the young men making the decisions regarding activities and running the business of the chapter. Adult advisors assist and provide guidance to the members.

We encourage you to explore the website and hope you will find it of interest. If you are interested in joining DeMolay or becoming an advisor and have more questions, please leave a message and we will be in touch with you.

2015

Greetings from DeMolay! I am pleased to present you with some information about DeMolay if you are not familiar with this organization. My name is Ross Mushik and I have been appointed as the state director (Executive Officer) for DeMolay of North Dakota.

In a nutshell, DeMolay is a values based character development program providing experiences that develop character, leadership, organizational skills, personal responsibility, and creative thinking to young men ages 12 to 21. DeMolay was started in 1919 by Frank Land as a way to assist young boys that had lost their fathers in World War I. The concept came to fruition and continues to this day in an organization that is led by the young men and mentored by the adults. If you are looking for more detailed information, please go to www.demolay.org.

I envision a plan to establish four quadrants in the State of North Dakota. Each quadrant will consist of an adult Area Governor, local adult advisory members, two or more certified adult trainers, and adult advisors in their respective communities. We have the ability to establish a state-wide chapter for DeMolay, while at the same time maintaining and growing the active Chapter in Grand Forks, which will provide the leadership expertise and background resources for the new members.

Grand Forks DeMolay Chapter is active and in May 2015 brought in eight new members. The local leaders are enthusiastic and willing to grow the organization with support from the Grand Forks area community. A group is getting off the ground in Hazen and Minot and several leaders are working with the young men.

Advisor training has been completed for three individuals; one from Mandan, one from Hazen, and one from Minot. As we look to other areas of the State, we will need leaders in those areas, so if you are interested, please contact me.
